Carpe Diem Liveaboards
The Komodo island of Flores and its surrounding seas are the epitome of exploration, and Carpe Diem is the vessel that will take you there. They say to catch the trade winds in your sails and sail far from the safe harbour; finding or losing yourself is just part of the voyage. This boat represents more than just the spontaneity of life, the pleasure and delight of living in the moment, and the prospect of a daring adventure.
This gorgeous boat reflects the realization of long-held goals and the possibility of exciting new adventures. We would be grateful if you could accompany us on our adventure.
Despite accounting for only 1.6% of the world’s oceanic area, the Coral Triangle is the global epicenter of marine biodiversity and is on the bucket list of every diver on the planet
Itinerary
Day 1:
Guests are received at Labuanbajo Airport and escorted by taxi to the jetty, then by launch to the Carpe Diem. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a cool towel and a refreshing drink, as well as a welcome and safety instruction. Once all passengers have boarded securely, we will set sail towards South Rinca.
This portion of the cruise takes roughly 7 hours, giving visitors time to unpack, rest, and become acquainted with their cabins and the boat in general. We’ll spend the night in the sheltered seas between Pulau Kode and Rinca.Day 2:
We will stay at the same anchorage all day, allowing passengers to visit local diving/snorkeling spots such as Cannibal Rock, Pulau Pisang (Banana Island), Crinoid Canyon, and Yellow Wall. In addition, the beach in South Rinca is home to some of the world’s most famous Komodo Dragons, which we may visit (from the safety of our launch) while providing tourists with an excellent photo opportunity. We will spend the night in this remote and breathtakingly gorgeous anchorage.
Day 3:
A two-hour boat ride to the Apple Orchard and Kerita Tol diving and snorkeling spots. Depending on the conditions, these can be difficult dive sites, but the benefits are well worth the effort. Following the afternoon dive, we return to the anchorage, where we will spend the night and have the option to dive at Torpedo Point, an excellent place for small animals.
Day 4:
We raise the anchor early and proceed west to Nusa Duawaju, the location of Manta Alley. We can dive and snorkel with gorgeous Manta Rays who visit this feeding station, which is supplied with nutrients from the colder Southern Ocean. From personal experience, this is one of the trip’s many highlights. I was accompanied by about 20 Manta Rays the last time I dove here. After two dives at Manta Alley, we’ll take a short 1-hour boat ride to Loh Sera for an afternoon dive and snorkel before staying overnight.
Day 5:
The crew will get an early start again as we travel to Pulau Padar, stopping at the dive spots of Three Sisters and Pillar Steen along the way. We can also stop here for an afternoon climb to the top of the island to view the sunset. Guests can also use the SUPs or kayaks to explore the beach and island at their leisure.
Day 6:
We leave early again for Pulau Komodo and the famed Pantai Merah (Pink Beach). Tiny fragments of bright red coral mingle with the white sand to give a stunning pink tint that grows more gorgeous as the sun goes down. Our guests can also go diving, snorkeling, trekking, kayaking, and paddle boarding.
Day 7:
A short passage to Gili Lawa Darat, with stops at Batu Bolong and/or Batu Tiga for world-class diving, followed by even more spectacular diving/snorkeling destinations at the Golden Passage or the tough Cauldron or Shotgun sites. We have another afternoon journey up the hill to capture the last sunset memories of gorgeous Komodo National Park. We will spend the night at this anchorage.
Day 8:
As it is the last day, we raise anchor and head to Labuanbajo, giving guests time to pack and rest before escorting them ashore and to the airport to say our goodbyes.
